The Whitethroat / Tornsanger is there

mandag 29. april 2019
af Robert Luttik
After a very cosy but a little bit noisy open day we had today a very quiet day. Not because there were no birds but in the morning only Susanne and me were at the station. It was a good day, not too warm, a bit of wind (from the North) and later in the day it became very sunny. First two rounds were very very busy and after those we got some time to drink coffee. We ringed in total 167 new birds (highest number this year) and had only 16 recaptures. Most birds from the days before had left the station.
We had the first Whitethroat / Tornsanger of the year. We also had 18 Willow Warblers / Løvsanger. I saw at Trektellen.NL that some ringing station were askiing where are the Willow warblers. Maybe they like Denmark better. And together with the Willow Warblers we had 18 Chiffchaffs / Gransanger.
We started the day with a nice couple of Redstart / Rødstjert (see photo) and of course you will find a photo of de first Whitethroat / Tornsanger.
Sometimes we catch a bird that is ringed in an other country. Today we had a Robin / Rødhals from France (see the perky bird).
