Emty nets ?
The migration at Gedser Odde was dominated by 48 Honey Buzzards, 41 Sparrowhawks, 28 Kestrels, 2 Hobby's and one Pallid Harrier. Of passerines they counted among others 360 Swallows. Over the Garden we observed large numbers of passerines. These birds were present all day.
The bird on the graph is a Willow Warbler, as we did not have a useful image of a Chiffchaff. However, you will notice that the numbers of Willow Warblers has decreased since the 1. September, as illustrated by the black trend line. The Chiffchaffs have moved in, and the blue trend line suggests that we can expect more Chiffchaffs in the days to come.
Strong wind all day and the rain came through about 4 o'clock and the wind dropped. Suddently we saw a Nutcracker in the garden, and luckily we found it in the high net on our normal net round. Measurements indicated that it was a thick-billed Nutcracker ssp caryocatactes.
