Awesome start to the day with around 20 birds in the first round, including quite a few thrushes - Blackbird/Solsort, Redwing/Vindrossel and Fieldfare/Sjagger. The pace slackened off for the next few hours, and we were thrilled to have a juvenile female/hun Hawfinch/Kernebider in the penultimate round! It was the first time I have had this species in hand, so I took a few moments to appreciate the unique feather shapes (in the photo below, take a look at the tips of the secondary wing feathers), extremely short tail that barely protruded from beneath the uppertail coverts, almost comically large bill, and surpringly delicate and short legs. The bird was much smaller and lighter in hand than I had imagined, weighing just 47g (around half of a blackbird/solsort, for reference).

Trækket på Odden: Today’s count felt akin to yesterday's, with similarly calm conditions and a somewhat comparable species composition. Several Razorbill/Alk, Red-throated Diver/Rødstrubet Lom, Long-tailed Duck/Havlit, and some Gannet/Sule were observed. Many Little Gull/Dværgmåge were also counted again today, with 82 individuals. Some variation came as my first Snow Bunting/Snespurv today at the tip! I think that these birds are especially cute looking and sounding. As for passerines, we did not record too many migrating, but had good views of a vibrant Grey Wagtail/Bjergvipstjert on the shore, as well as a Black Redstart/Husrødstjert perched near the Marine Station. Two majestic Crane/Trane flew overhead later in the morning, too. Finally, for a non-avian highlight, we spotted a Harbour Porpoise/Marsvin, as the sea was so still.
